Genshin Impact Players Beware: Hack Threatens to Permanently Damage Player Worlds

Genshin Impact players on the Chinese server are grappling with a concerning issue involving hackers who are reportedly using third-party software to sabotage other players’ progress, essentially “bricking” their accounts. While developer miHoYo has not officially acknowledged this problem yet, it has garnered attention through social media and player reports.

The malicious players are exploiting vulnerabilities in the game to delete crucial items, such as elemental totems, preventing affected players from making any progress. Even if they uninstall and reinstall the game, their accounts remain compromised.

Although this issue currently seems confined to Chinese Genshin Impact players, the international player base has been cautioned against joining “any stranger’s co-op room” until the bug is resolved.

Examples shared on Reddit demonstrate the severity of the problem. In one comparison, an unaffected player sees a cannon and an electro tree, while the supposedly hacked player experiences an empty space in-game. In another instance, a geo pillar has vanished entirely from the game.

Redditor AntonioS3 explained, “The new exploit has to do with deleting someone’s world exploration points (so things like seele, chests, culi like hydroculus and the likes).” This account-wide bug has disrupted gameplay for affected players.

AntonioS3 concluded by advising all players, regardless of their server, to refrain from joining co-op lobbies hosted by strangers “until the bug is fixed.”

Genshin Impact has gained immense popularity globally, but it is not the only noteworthy Chinese game. The article suggests exploring other Chinese games and acknowledges the success of titles like Naraka: Bladepoint and FIST: Forged In Shadow Torch, emphasizing the importance of supporting Chinese developers and their creations.
