Phasmophobia Console Release Delayed Due to Unforeseen ‘Fire Incident

The eagerly awaited console release of the genre-defining horror game Phasmophobia has encountered a delay due to an unfortunate fire incident at the development team’s offices. Originally set for an early access launch later this year, the console release has now been postponed to Halloween.

In an official statement posted on social media, the development team, Kinetic, cited the recent fire incident in their office building as well as unpredictable development challenges as the primary reasons for the delay. They expressed their regret at having to push back the console release initially scheduled for August and assured players that they are now targeting a special launch during the week leading up to Halloween in October. This delay will provide the necessary time to perfect and fine-tune the console version of Phasmophobia.

The statement also emphasized the team’s appreciation for players’ patience and understanding, expressing their eagerness to bring Phasmophobia to consoles.

Phasmophobia recently received its “biggest update yet,” introducing a new progression system and a range of in-game items. The update, titled Phasmophobia: Ascension or Progression 2.0, brought significant changes to the game, including revamped animations, equipment, evidence, and a new prestige system. The prestige system resets players’ bank accounts and investigatory items every 100 levels, offering a new inventory slot as a reward.

When Phasmophobia eventually makes its way to consoles, players can expect to encounter all 24 ghost types and explore 10 locations. Cross-play functionality will be available for those who wish to join forces with friends playing on different platforms.
