Fujitsu Officially Ends European Client PC Sales

Fujitsu is set to end the sale of personal computers across Europe from April 2024 as the company shifts its focus towards building a business model centered on sustainability transformation. This decision comes amid a global decline in PC sales, with manufacturers shipping fewer units in recent years.

Fujitsu’s overall PC market share had been steadily decreasing, falling from 1.81% in Q3 2019 to just 0.85% in Q2 2023. The company’s exit from the European market, while not entirely surprising, represents a significant shift. Europe had been Fujitsu’s largest market outside of Asia Pacific, making up 25% of its total PC shipments in 2022.

Currently, consumers can still place orders for Fujitsu’s LifeBook series of laptops, the Esprimo series of tower PCs, and a family of Celsius workstations and mobile workstations. Existing support contracts for the Client Computing Devices (CCD) portfolio will be fulfilled, and CCD products will continue to be shipped until April 2024.

Fujitsu emphasized that this decision applies to Europe only, and the company plans to maintain its focus on servers and storage in the region. Additionally, Fujitsu is aiming to shift toward sustainability transformation through digital innovation and support its customers’ digital transformation as part of its broader strategy.

The decision reflects the evolving landscape of the PC industry and the increasing emphasis on sustainability and digital transformation in business strategies.
