Epic Games just dropped the news about Fortnite’s next big live event: The Big Bang, slated to go down in-game on December 2.
Now, if you’re not up to speed, these live events in Fortnite are basically jaw-dropping spectacles that unfold within matches and weave into the game’s ongoing storyline. Remember ‘Fracture’ from early December last year in Chapter Three: Season Four? Yeah, that one climaxed with the Fortnite island blowing up – quite the spectacle, to put it mildly.
As for The Big Bang, Epic’s keeping mum on the specifics, but the tease suggests it’s a game-changer, marking a fresh start for Fortnite. The official Fortnite account, flexing on X (formerly Twitter), hinted that this “unforgettable event” will shake up everything you know about the game, with a promising “memorable reveal” in the mix.
According to a Fortnite blog post, the event kicks off at 2 pm ET / 11 am PT / 7 pm GMT / 6 am AEDT on December 2. You can scout it out on the Battle Royale tile half an hour earlier to plan your look, as it’s discoverable on the Discover screen. Squads of up to four players can dive into the action together.
Prepping for the show, Epic-made experiences in Fortnite get the shutters at 12 pm ET / 9 am PT / 5 pm GMT / 4 am AEDT on December 2. Make sure to enjoy them before the temporary blackout.
Heads up, though – Epic’s flashing a warning for potential photosensitivity due to the event’s bright lights. Safety first!
Fortnite enthusiasts were already buzzing about a live event after a tweet addressed the backlash over recent age-rating restrictions on cosmetics in some Creative mode islands. The Fortnite account hinted at exciting things in the pipeline: “Welp, our plan for cosmetics with the ratings update didn’t hit the mark. We’re working on a few new options that we hope to have in place for, say… some sort of big in-game event. Stay tuned; we’ll keep you posted.”
In more recent news, Epic spilled the beans that the gating on most in-game cosmetics will be lifted “until we have a long-term solution in place.” Expect this change to roll out from December 3. Get ready for some Fortnite fireworks!
