Ford’s Engine Recall Alert: 1.0L EcoBoost in Focus, EcoSport Faces Oil Pressure Issues

Listen up, Ford fans – the Blue Oval’s got another recall on its hands. This time it’s about 140,000 EcoSport and Focus models with the little 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine. Seems there’s an issue with the oil pump belt tensioner arm that could cause it to break from too much vibration. Not good, since that belt keeps the oil pump running to lubricate the motor. No oil pressure means the engine could seize up altogether, leaving you stranded without power.

Ford says if this happens, you could experience a loss of engine power and brakes. Sounds dangerous. Thankfully no crashes or injuries related to this yet, but it’s serious enough for a recall. Especially with Ford having lots of engine trouble lately. Their EcoBoost motors in the Explorer, F-150 and other models are under investigation right now for possibly grenading without warning. No bueno.

So if you’ve got one of these affected EcoSports or Focuses, be looking for a notice from Ford to bring it in and get that tensioner arm replaced. Gotta keep these little 1.0-liter three-bangers running smooth! Ford’s had a ton of recalls lately – over 50 last year affecting millions of vehicles. Let’s hope they get this tensioner issue sorted quick so you can keep on truckin’ in your EcoSport worry-free.
