We have seen some real surprises in the automotive world this year, but we truly didn’t see this coming. Automaker giant Ferrari, has announced that in Q3 2023, the company sold more hybrid vehicles than te common ICE vehicles. The Italian carmaker sold 3,188 vehicles, out of which, 51.3% were hybrids while the gasoline powered alternatives made up 48.7%. The cars that led this revolution are te Ferrari 296 and SF90.
Hold your horses, though – the iconic V12-powered Purosangue SUV might just tip the scales back in favor of the roaring ICEs. Spy shots are teasing us with a replacement for the 812, and rumors hint it might stick to the good ol’ gas guzzler tradition. But, and there’s always a but, even the mighty Ferrari can’t escape the emissions squeeze.
Fast forward to the future, and Ferrari’s sketching an electric roadmap. By the end of this decade, they’re betting on a 40% all-electric fleet, another 40% hybrids, leaving a sweet 20% for the pure gasoline symphony. Yet, here’s a twist within the twist – Ferrari’s CEO is tossing a lifeline to the classic engines, hinting at a potential revival if eco-fuels like e-fuels steal the show.
So, while the world’s shifting gears, Ferrari’s riding the waves, keeping us all on the edge of our seats.
