Fall early access release is hinted at in the first gameplay clip for “Hyper Light Breaker.”

The gameplay trailer for Hyper Light Breaker has been available for almost a year now. The eagerly anticipated first glimpse was released by developer Heart Machine via IGN. Breaker, which was released in 2016, is a divergence from its predecessor, Hyper Light Drifter, according to the developers. That is reiterated in the video, which demonstrates exactly how much will change when the series switches to 3D.

While Hyper Light Drifter drew heavily from early Legend of Zelda games like A Link to the Past, its sequel is clearly influenced by Breath of the Wild and also makes references to PlatinumGames games like Bayonetta 3 and Dark Souls. According to the teaser, using the hoverboard and glider your character will have available will make exploring Breaker’s open environment, a region known as the “Overgrowth,” a highlight. “Endless loadouts” and “endless deaths” are also promised in the trailer. In other words, be prepared for challenging opponents who will force you to become proficient with the many weaponry you encounter during the game. Oh, and it’s clear how the optional co-op play will enable players to team up to overcome some of Breaker’s more challenging obstacles.

Heart Machine also disclosed a new release date for the game along with the gameplay reveal. The release of Hyper Light Breaker on Steam Early Access will now take place in the fall rather than the spring as was initially planned.
