Dave the Diver, the deep-sea adventure RPG that gained recognition as one of the best indie games of the year upon its June release, has received a significant quality-of-life update focused on accessibility and bug fixes.
The update includes various improvements, such as system optimization for low-spec PCs, reduced build and patch sizes, improved sound quality, and enhanced text quality for French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese language options. A new inventory sorting function has been added to help players manage resources more efficiently, and the UI size has been adjusted for both PC and Steam Deck users.
For players using a controller on PC, the base settings will automatically detect the connected controller and display corresponding buttons for in-game events. The cursor will also no longer be visible for controller players. Quick-time events (QTEs) have been simplified and can now be completed by pushing a single button, although players can choose to enable or disable this feature in the settings menu.
In addition to these quality-of-life updates, the patch addresses various in-game elements, including balancing Sushi Restaurant operation costs and employee wages, reducing Diamond & Platinum rank operation costs, and balancing a few weapons. Numerous bugs have also been addressed for an overall improved gaming experience.
Players can find the full patch notes on the Dave the Diver Steam blog, but be cautious, as they may contain spoilers for certain in-game events and chapters. If you’re still progressing through the game, you may want to experience these changes naturally before diving into the detailed patch notes.
