Fortnite Chapter 5 might just be cooking up one of its biggest crossovers ever with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and signs are pointing to a shell-shocked collaboration. While it’s not officially confirmed, the breadcrumbs are adding up, especially with the recent Chapter 5 patch unleashing a load of new content. Two key details in the season trailer fueled the speculation further.
First off, there’s a glowing manhole cover in the trailer – a nod to the Turtles’ sewer dwelling. Then, in the fine print on the season key art, eagle-eyed fans spotted a Viacom copyright notice. Viacom happens to be the parent company of Paramount Pictures, the proud owner of the TMNT brand. Those two nuggets had fans buzzing. Now, thanks to Fortnite dataminers digging through Chapter 5 files, we’ve got even more intriguing clues.
During actual gameplay, it turns out these manholes operate like the old portal toilets – jump in one, pop out of another a good distance away. While that might not scream TMNT, dataminers unearthed a TMNT lair in the files, accessible through TMNT-branded manholes in the future.
Take a look at the graffiti found in the files, visible in-game at one of the train stations – it practically oozes TMNT vibes. For those who know their Ninja Turtles, born of glowing green ooze and fueled by a love for pizza, this is hard to ignore.
Previously, Fortnite’s collaboration with Paramount Pictures on Transformers: Rise of the Beasts in June fueled hopes for a TMNT crossover, given Paramount owns the Turtles. After the latest TMNT theatrical film passed without a Fortnite event, expectations waned. However, current hints are reigniting the flames.
