Cities: Skylines II announce a delay to the upcoming DLC, will focus on fixing the base game first

Cities: Skylines II is hitting a bit of a road bump. The game’s expansion roadmap is getting a time-out, and the console versions are pushed back to 2024. Why? Well, players weren’t too thrilled about the PC version’s performance, and the developers are taking a breather from rapid patches to dig into some serious bug fixes and performance tweaks. CEO Mariina Hallikainen hopped on the blog to say sorry for the delay and mentioned they don’t want to rush out new stuff before making sure the base game is rock-solid.

What’s changing on the roadmap? Pretty much everything gets shifted back by about a quarter. The Beach Properties pack is now coming in Q1 2024 instead of this year’s end. Two creator packs and some cool radio stations are also taking a little longer to hit your screens. The Bridges & Ports expansion is holding steady for a Q2 2024 release.

Mariina spilled the beans on the behind-the-scenes action. The team is tackling those annoying bugs and performance hiccups, starting with graphics to boost your GPU’s performance. Then, they’ll dive into CPU optimizations and fix any stutters along the way. They’re sorting through player bug reports, tackling around 100 reproducible issues and another 100 that need a closer look.

The developers informed fans that the base game has unfortunately, failed to meet the benchmarks that they had set, and as such, that is unacceptable. They will be focussing all their resources to rectify the same and once the results are optimum, they will shift focus to DLCs.
