Businesses today are going all-in on Generative AI

Technology and Business training company O’Reilly has presented a finding which indicates that 67% of global businesses today are already adopting some form of Generative AI to boost productivity and streamlining their business processes. The survey, which had close to 2800 participants, yielded the outcome that out of those using GenAI at work, two out of five are recent adopters, having implemented this technology in the past year.

Going forward in the survey, it was apparent that 54% believe that Generative AI will lead to an improvement in overall, while only 4% of them consider GenAI a threat. Studies do indicate that Generative AI is definitely revolutionary, but it is surprising to see 53% of users are still struggling to find a use case for Generative AI within their organisation. But out of those who do have a use case for GenAI, the most common include programming (77%), data analysis (70%), and customer-facing applications (65%).

Those who have not adopted Generative AI in their organisation were asked as to why they are not on the hype train and the common reply was that they are still on the backfoot when it comes to legal compliance and do not want to risk coming in the cross hairs of the bigger organisations when it comes to copyright and IP ownership.

Another interesting point highlighhted by this study indicates that companies today are on the lookout for people who have a level of AI-literacy. No matter their experience or job profile, a knowledge of how to use AI in different use-cases does make it easier for the individual to be employable in the market today. While there are some studies that indicate that GenAI is currently on top of the food chain, it is safe to say that there is still room for it to grow and evolve in terms of usability and application.
