Apple has begun production of the iPhone 14 in India

According to reports, Apple has begun building the iPhone 14 in India. This is the first time Apple has moved manufacturing from China to India so soon following the release of a new iPhone.

Apple is producing the smartphone at Foxconn’s facility in Sriperumbudur, India. While Apple has previously built its flagship iPhones in India, it has often done so after the phone’s first release. The iPhone 13 was just introduced in India in April, and other iPhone models, including the iPhone 12 and 11, have followed suit.

We first learned that Apple intended to close the time gap between switching production from China to India in August, with the company originally intending to complete manufacturing the first iPhones in India by late October. According to a person familiar with the matter, Apple and Foxconn were able to resolve supply chain concerns, enabling Apple to relocate manufacturing to India more quickly.

Apple began manufacturing iPhones in India in 2017, with the intention of reducing the company’s dependence on China as tensions with the US grew. It also makes the gadgets more enticing to the Indian market since manufacturing them locally in India might make them more inexpensive in the nation.

Other corporations, such as Google, seem to be looking into manufacturing centers outside of China. Google is allegedly considering moving Pixel smartphone manufacturers to India or Vietnam. Samsung has been manufacturing devices in India since 2007, and the world’s biggest phone factory opened in India in 2018.
