According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the first batch of Apple’s Macs equipped with the M3 chip could be released as early as October. In his Power On newsletter, Gurman suggests that there will be a product launch following Apple’s annual iPhone event in September, with a focus on new Macs. He notes that it is too early for high-end MacBook Pros or desktops, so the initial beneficiaries of the M3 chip are likely to be the next iMac, 13-inch MacBook Air, and 13-inch MacBook Pro.
Earlier this year, Gurman reported that Apple was in the advanced stages of development for two new iMac models featuring the M3 chip. The new chipset is expected to offer significant performance and power efficiency improvements due to TSMC’s 3nm process. Gurman previously predicted that the new iMac could arrive in the second half of 2023 with a colorful design similar to the 2021 model. He also mentioned that Apple is working on a 32-inch iMac, but its release is not expected until late 2024 at the earliest.
Gurman also mentioned that there won’t be major upgrades for the iPad models alongside the Mac release. He anticipates that significant upgrades will come next year with the release of the M3 iPad Pros featuring OLED screens. However, he did mention that Apple is working on a new iPad Air with updated internals, as the current model still uses the older M1 chipset.
