Amazon Launches Accelerator Program to Boost Startups in Generative AI

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched an accelerator program aimed at generative AI startups that will help promising startups get off the ground. The ten-week program includes AWS credits, access to mentors and experts, as well as networking events. Startups will pitch their work at the end of the program to potential investors and customers. Although the program is open to all AI startups, AWS suggests that applicants have a basic product that has generated some interest from customers. Sign-ups for the accelerator are open globally until April 17th. AWS believes that the program will serve as a “catalyst” for innovation in generative AI while also potentially increasing business for the company.

AWS only has a limited amount of in-house generative AI at present, and the program will serve as a chance for the company to see where AI can take them. Its Create with Alexa tool is one example of its generative AI, which generates children’s stories on the Echo Show smart display. Unlike its tech rivals, Google and Microsoft, Amazon is not under pressure to develop its own AI products, and it hopes that the accelerator will help generate ideas for the company to explore in the future.
