On Monday, some users found they could view the titles of other people’s chat history, causing ChatGPT to go offline and temporarily become unreachable. On social media sites like Reddit and Twitter, users submitted screenshots of their ChatGPT UI, revealing sidebars filled with chats they claimed weren’t theirs. The incident emphasises the necessity for caution while sharing details with or formulating inquiries for the chatbot, even though they could only see the titles and not the length of other people’s interactions.
According to a spokesman for OpenAI who talked to Bloomberg, the business temporarily suspended ChatGPT after learning about these reports. The problem was apparently created by a defect in an unnamed open source program, but OpenAI is still looking into the specifics of what caused it.
According to the company’s incident report, ChatGPT was shut down on Monday AM and fully restored ten hours later when a remedy was implemented. However, conversation histories are still not available as of this writing. OpenAI assured users that it is “working to restore this feature as soon as possible” in a sidebar message that stated as much. The company has not provided an estimated time of arrival for the feature.
