Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced a new partnership with Bad Robot Games to produce and publish the studio’s next title. The game is an unannounced four player cooperative shooter currently in development for PlayStation 5 and PC. The project is being directed by Mike Booth, known for his work on Left 4 Dead.
The announcement was made through a press release confirming that Sony will support the creation and release of the new IP. Anna Sweet, CEO of Bad Robot Games, said the partnership enables the studio to build an expansive universe for its upcoming title. She noted that support from PlayStation provides the resources needed to deliver a distinctive cooperative experience. Sweet added that she is pleased to have Mike Booth leading the creative direction of the project. She said the studio aims to produce an experience built around cooperative play and shared moments for groups of players.
Bad Robot Games operates under Bad Robot, the production company founded by filmmaker JJ Abrams. The studio has been involved in interactive entertainment projects, including the development of Silent Hill Ascension, which debuted in 2023. The new partnership with Sony marks a significant expansion in the company’s work on large scale game development. Christian Svensson, vice president and head of 2P and 3P content ventures and strategic initiatives at Sony Interactive Entertainment, said Sony is impressed with the team assembled at Bad Robot Games. Svensson noted that the studio’s creative approach aligns with Sony’s goal of producing experiences with strong impact and long term engagement.
The partnership covers production and publishing responsibilities for the upcoming title. No details have been released regarding gameplay structure, release timeline or additional content plans. The project remains in active development, and further updates are expected in future announcements.
