LG has announced the 37U730SA-W, a 36.5-inch 4K monitor that combines elements of a traditional computer display with features often found in smart TVs. The panel offers a 3840 x 2160 resolution on an IPS screen, covers about 90% of the DCI-P3 color space, and supports over a billion colors with a peak brightness of 300 nits. While it is not aimed at gaming with its 60Hz refresh rate and 5ms response time, the monitor is clearly designed for browsing, productivity, and entertainment.
Connectivity is versatile, with two HDMI ports, a USB-C interface delivering up to 65W charging power for business laptops, and a headphone jack. Dual 5W speakers are included for light media or calls, though they may not suit full entertainment setups. At 7.4 kg, the display is relatively portable for its size, and users can adjust tilt, swivel, height, or mount it via VESA for a flexible workspace.
Convenience features include an auto brightness sensor, Flicker-Free technology, and Eye Care mode to reduce eye strain. The integration of webOS brings over six hundred applications, ranging from YouTube to sports streaming, along with wireless streaming through AirPlay 2 and Miracast.
With its ability to operate as both a work monitor and a standalone hub for media, the 37U730SA-W is an interesting mix of productivity and entertainment. The monitor is already available in Japan for around $655.
