Remedy will no longer be making a free-to-play multiplayer game

Remedy, the brilliant minds behind Alan Wake II, is making some big moves with its game projects. Remember Project Vanguard, the free-to-play co-op shooter they were working on with Tencent? Well, they’re hitting pause on that and hitting the reset button.

The game in question us project Kestrel. Remedy has decided that this new game will no longer be a free-to-play multiplayer, and now, they will be focussing their focus and attention on making it a full fledged premium flagship game with strong and immersive multiplayer content. When you look at it from an outsider’s perspective, tis decision may actually play in Remedy’s favour, as the free to play multiplayer market is alsoready saturated with some well settled titles, and a new entrant may find it diffucult to make a mark.

Remedy’s CEO, Tero Virtala, spilled the beans, saying they’re focusing on their strengths to make Kestrel a standout experience. They’re even recycling some of Vanguard’s assets and themes for this new venture. That’s some creative repurposing, right?

So, as we eagerly wait for more gaming goodness, Remedy is taking a fresh approach, and we can’t wait to see what they whip up with Project Kestrel.
