Windows Maps, TV and Movies apps missing from new Windows 11 installations

Microsoft seems to be going all guns blazing on streamlining their operating system. After launching their Copilot AI tool to general users, it now seems that the tech giant is looking to remove apps that are not relevant anymore to make the OS a little lighter and more streamlined. Recently, users noticed that Windows Maps, TV and Movies apps were missing after the 25987 Build Update was installed.

If you are someone who is using an older version of Windows 11, the apps will not be affected and will continue to function as usual. Also, Microsoft has not said that they are killing off these apps. They are just being removed as default installations. Should you feel the need to use these apps again, you can simply head to the Microsoft App Store and get them there.

There is no real reason why these apps have been removed, as they are not really a strain on memory. However, one thing we have noticed is that Microsoft has stopped support for Windows Maps, so either they are looking to shut down the services later on, or they are working on improving them in the background and releasing a fresher iteration in a later update.
