BT and HPE Join Forces to Enhance Global LAN Services

BT has announced a collaboration with HPE (Hewlett Packard Enterprise) to deliver improved local area network (LAN) services to organizations worldwide.

The partnership, as outlined in a press release, will consist of two primary steps: identification and evaluation. BT will conduct an audit of the client’s LAN to assess existing infrastructure, identify reusable components, and determine areas that require replacement. HPE Aruba Networking will provide interoperable technology to minimize unnecessary hardware changes.

Following the identification phase, BT will focus on securing and safeguarding connected devices. The company will offer a unified, cloud-hosted dashboard that enables organizations to generate reports, analyze data, monitor security, and ensure scalability and resilience. The dashboard will also assist in identifying redundant devices that consume excess power, facilitating network and energy optimization.

BT emphasizes the importance of this LAN approach in the current “new normal” work environment. Legacy LANs often struggle to meet the demands of hybrid workers, particularly in terms of accessing applications and bandwidth-intensive video collaboration tools. Additionally, the growing number of Internet of Things (IoT) devices connecting to networks challenges reliability and consistency.

With its Managed LAN service, developed in collaboration with HPE Aruba Networking, BT aims to help customers modernize connectivity securely, supporting evolving workstyles and increasing IoT requirements. Phil Mottram, Executive Vice President and General Manager of HPE Aruba Networking, highlighted the significance of secure and agile enterprise networks in achieving business objectives.

“Global customers that are building their connectivity strategies are focusing on modern enterprise networks that are secure, agile, responsive to business needs and simple to operate while being powerful drivers of transformation,” said Mottram. “Our global managed LAN service with BT is an example of how the network is helping customers achieve their business objectives by integrating our AI, security, automation, and Network-as-a-Service capabilities.”
