Ram 1500 REV: The Truck That Sold Out in Days

Stellantis-owned automaker, Ram, debuted its 1500 REV electric truck concept at CES earlier this year, and subsequently unveiled the design in greater detail earlier this month. The company even allowed early reservation for its 2024 model, the Ram REV Insider+, with a $100 deposit. However, the automaker was forced to shut down pre-orders last week as it reached its maximum capacity for membership. According to reports, the automaker has yet to disclose any further information on how many memberships have been sold or when pre-orders will be reopened.

During the Super Bowl Sunday, Ram showcased an electric truck that closely resembles its gas-powered siblings rather than the futuristic design presented at CES. Similarly, Ford’s F-150 Lightning also bears a close resemblance to its existing lineup. Despite a lack of detailed specifications, Car and Driver reports that the 1500 REV will have a battery pack that supports quick charging at 350 kilowatts, based on an 800-volt architecture. Ram is aiming for a driving range of up to 500 miles and a towing capacity of over 10,000 pounds.

The concept features an interior that can be reconfigured for three rows of seating thanks to a powered midgate. The 1500 REV can even transport objects up to 18 feet in length when the midgate is lowered. However, it is unclear whether these options will be incorporated into the final production model. The exact cost of the truck is also unknown, but it is likely to be similar to the F-150 Lightning, which starts at nearly $56,000.
