Sony is shutting down a PS4 exclusive next year, rendering the PlayStation game useless. The good news inside this terrible news is that the game will not be shut down until April 14, 2023, allowing PlayStation enthusiasts a little more time to enjoy the game and acquire its many awards. After then, it makes no difference whether you downloaded the game on time, since you must be online to play the game.
Guns Up is a free-to-play action strategy game by Valkyrie Entertainment. Sony owns the IP since it is published by Sony, and it seems that Sony will never use it again. The game received mixed reviews at its first release, with a Metacritic score of 54. Not only did critics dislike the game, but neither did buyers. Despite being free to play, Guns Up failed to attract and keep a player base when it was launched on December 5, 2015. Of course, the game’s poor quality was a major factor, but Sony’s almost non-existent marketing certainly didn’t help.
The game was a complete PS4 exclusive for the first three years of its life, but in 2018 it came to PC, and then in 2022 it came to mobile devices in what was obviously a last-ditch attempt to save the game.
If you’re playing the game in 2022, you’ll now get 50k in-game gold delivered to your account before the end of the month, in addition to the six months remaining. That’s it.
“Multiplayer and all online features for Guns Up will be terminated and no longer available starting 4/14/23. As you have to be online to play this title, this game will not be playable starting 4/14/23,” reads a banner on the game’s official website. “50k gold will be gifted to all current accounts before the end of the month. Enjoy and thank you for the support!”
