Apple announced a slew of new features for the upcoming iOS 16 at this year’s WWDC. New lock screens and widgets, as well as the option to edit Messages, are included. Furthermore, if you have an Apple developer account, you can now download the developer beta to have a personal look.
A word of caution: beta software is not the finished product. If you download the iOS 16 developer beta, you should expect some apps and functionality to be buggy. That’s why we recommend installing the beta on an iPhone that isn’t your primary device. If that isn’t an option, you could wait for the public beta, which will be available next month. And, as usual, make a backup of your phone before downloading the beta in case something goes wrong.
With the disclaimer out of the way, let’s take a look at how you can download the iOS 16 Developer Beta.
Step 1. On your iPhone, go to the Apple developer site. (You must have an active account, which costs $99 per year.) This is done by clicking the Account button in the upper right corner of the website. You may also be required to use two-factor authentication.
