Google has quietly raised the prices of its YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium subscriptions. YouTube Premium’s monthly subscription has increased by $2, going from $12 to $14, while the annual subscription now costs $140, up from $120, offering a savings of about $28 over paying month-by-month. Similarly, YouTube Music Premium’s monthly subscription has increased by $1, going from $10 to $11 per month, matching price increases by competitors like Apple and Amazon.
YouTube Premium offers ad-free viewing, offline viewing, background playback, and higher-quality streaming on some platforms. Last year, Google also increased the price of its family Premium plan to $23 per month. The company has been cracking down on ad-blockers to encourage users to support creators by subscribing to YouTube Premium and enjoying an ad-free experience.
The price hikes were not accompanied by any official announcement from Google, and some existing subscribers may still be on the older, lower pricing. The increase in subscription fees comes as YouTube seeks to maintain revenue streams and support content creators on the platform.
