Earlier in the year, ChatGPT had received a feature called custom instructions. In this, users could tailor their ChatGPT interactions by putti in specific instructions. However, the feature seemed to be a build up to something really special. OpenAI, at its first tech conference, revealed that users can now create their own GPTs using ChatGPT. The only catch – users need to be ChatGPT Plus subscribers in order to access this new functionality.
If you are someone who is a ChatGPT Plus user, you can create your custom GPT chatbot to suit your specific needs. For example, if you are running a business, you can create a custom GPT to interact with customers. If you are a parent, you can create a custom GPT to help teach your kids how to solve math problems or understand complex theorems. If you are into social media, you can create a custom GPT to help you manage your social media presence. The possibilities are endless.
How do you use it?
Well, it is fairly simple. Firstly, you need to get onto a paid plan – either ChatGPT Plus or the enterprise plan, in case you have a company. Next, head to your personal profile and select the ‘Create a GPT’ option that is at the top of the page. Next, you will start by naming the GPT and then give it a bit more details on what the GPT will do. You can even upload data files if you wish, as well as adding in the ability to access the internet and even putting in the Dall-E image generator. The GPT may end up making some blunders in the beginning, but the more you use it, the better it will be.
Sine the announcement, we have started people sharing their GPTs for others to use and enjoy, which is truly incredible, and good for both the maker and user. Whenever OpenAI releases more capabilities for ChatGPT, the same will be available for integrating into your custom GPT.
Currently ChatGPT Plus costs $20/month, and now, with this new feature, it just may worth the investment.
