Microsoft has released a new Xbox system update that promises to enhance the search experience of the console. One of the key features of the update is a completely redesigned search page, which offers a “sleek new look” and gallery-style results, filter categories, and an updated navigation interface that uses the left and right bumpers.
The new search page is not just limited to finding new games to buy. Users can also search for content on YouTube within the Movies and TV tab, among other ways to discover new things to watch. The refined search experience can be accessed by tapping the search button on top of the dashboard or by pressing Y on the controller within the console UI.
In addition to the search experience, the system update also introduces a new power-saving mode that works with the recently launched ‘carbon aware’ feature. The new mode allows users to adjust power settings at any time from the settings menu and set their active hours, which are the hours they are most likely to use the console. For instance, if a user sets their active hours to begin at 10AM, the console will be ready to wake up at that time. Otherwise, it will shut down to draw just 0.5 watts instead of 10 to 15 watts.
The console will be accessible during active hours, and remote game installs will also be available. The mode is set to “always active” once the update is installed, allowing users to make changes to suit their preferences and schedule.
The Xbox system update is currently being rolled out to all users. With these improvements, Microsoft is hoping to provide a more seamless and enjoyable user experience to its customers.
