Considering that Quake 2 falls under the ZeniMax Media umbrella, it’s reasonable to anticipate its remastered version as a day-one release on Game Pass.
QuakeCon, an annual convention predominantly focused on the Quake franchise but also celebrating other Bethesda games, has a history of springing surprise announcements. A couple of years ago, attendees were treated to the unexpected release of a remastered edition of the original Quake.
