X faced another disruption as users across multiple regions reported problems accessing timelines and loading content. The platform experienced a sharp spike in outage reports on Downdetector, marking the second incident this week. The first alerts appeared shortly after 10.17 a.m. ET, with more than three thousand reports in the United States and several hundred in the United Kingdom. These numbers escalated rapidly, surpassing nineteen thousand at their peak before beginning to fall again.
The outage comes only days after a larger incident on November 18, when X suffered extended downtime linked to issues at Cloudflare. Unlike that event, Cloudflare displayed no operational problems this time. The Cloudflare status page remained normal throughout, suggesting this outage originated from within X’s own systems rather than an external partner.
During the disruption, the web version allowed posting but failed to display timelines. The mobile app showed the standard “posts aren’t loading” message. Reports across Downdetector confirmed that both platforms were affected. Despite the disruption, early signs of recovery appeared within minutes, with some users regaining full functionality before the incident was officially acknowledged.
As users looked for an explanation, spikes appeared in reported issues with Grok, X’s integrated assistant, but those reports eased alongside the main service. Downdetector graphs in both regions showed a rapid decline in error reports, dropping from high levels to a few hundred as the service stabilised.
This second outage adds to growing concerns about X’s reliability. Although the platform recovered quickly, the back to back failures highlight ongoing fragility in its infrastructure. With no confirmed cause released, it remains unclear whether internal system changes or load management issues contributed to the disruption.
By late evening, X was functioning normally again on desktop and mobile. The quick return suggests the incident was limited in scope, but it stands out as another reminder of the platform’s current instability. For now, X users can resume their usual browsing, although many will wait to see whether further issues appear over the weekend.
