Withings Unveils Affordable Entry-Level Smart Scale: The Body Smart, Priced at $100

Withings, the French tech company that specializes in health and fitness tracking devices, has recently unveiled its latest addition to its smart scale lineup – the Body Smart. With a price tag of $100, it replaces the Body+ model and boasts an impressive array of features that make it a compelling choice for those who are looking to get serious about tracking their fitness goals.

One of the standout features of the Body Smart is its Eyes Closed mode, which allows users to hide their weight from the scale’s color screen. Instead, the scale will send the data to the Withings app, where users can track their progress and receive encouraging messages or daily information such as step counts, air quality, and weather updates.

The scale also comes with a host of other modes, including one for athletes, one for pregnant people, and another for babies. It can support up to eight users, making it a great option for households with multiple people.

Withings claims that the Body Smart is accurate and consistent, offering weight measurements up to 50 grams. Additionally, it can provide detailed body composition analysis, including heart rate, visceral fat, and metabolic age. This is made possible through multifrequency bioelectrical impedance analysis technology, which sends an electrical signal through the body to measure the resistance and reactions of body tissues to the currents.

One exciting feature that Withings plans to add in May is the ability to measure basal metabolic rate (BMR), which monitors how many calories one burns while resting. This can provide helpful information about metabolic health and help determine metabolic age.

Meanwhile, Withings has also updated its mid-tier Body Comp scale with a color LCD screen and is planning to release its high-end Body Scan option in the US in the coming months. The Body Scan, which is already available in Europe for $400, features segmental body composition and a six-lead electrocardiogram with atrial fibrillation detection. Unlike the other two models, it comes with a rechargeable battery. Overall, Withings’ latest lineup of smart scales is a testament to the company’s commitment to providing users with advanced health tracking technology.
