Windows 11 Set to Introduce Long-Awaited macOS Feature

Microsoft may be on the verge of adding a long-awaited feature to Windows 11 that will allow users to force quit frozen apps directly from the taskbar, similar to what macOS has been offering for years.

Unlike on macOS, Windows users have had to jump through hoops to force quit an app that has stopped working. However, according to a report from Tom’s Hardware, Microsoft is working on adding an “End Task” option when right-clicking on an app on the taskbar.

Although the latest Windows 11 Insider build, Build 23430, includes the option, it is currently not functional and reverts to its default state when the Settings window is closed. Additionally, the feature is currently disabled by default and can only be enabled through the developers’ menu, which may deter regular users.

However, this discovery suggests that Microsoft is working on making the force quit option easily accessible to all users, which would be a welcome update. While it is unclear when this feature will be fully functional and available to the general public, it is a step in the right direction for Windows users who have longed for a more efficient way to deal with frozen apps.
