Windows 11 Preview Introduces ‘Gallery’ View for File Explorer from Photo App

Get ready to experience a new level of photo browsing with the latest Windows 11 developer preview! Microsoft is introducing the ‘Gallery’ view to File Explorer, allowing users to effortlessly browse their Photos app’s image library alongside their files and folders. With just a click of the shortcut found in the navigation panel, you’ll be greeted with a stunning display of thumbnails featuring the same images from the All Photos view. And for those with OneDrive Camera Roll Backup activated on their phones, your most recent photos will be displayed right up top, optimized for easy access.

But that’s not all! Finding specific content from folders is now a breeze thanks to the Collection dropdown feature. You can select which folders are shown in Gallery and even add subfolders of existing sources to filter to a subset of your content, such as desktop backgrounds or SD card/camera imports. Plus, Gallery will appear as an option in the file-picking dialog, making attaching images to emails, presentations, or social media posts a seamless process.

While the feature is gradually rolling out and may not be available to all Dev Channel Insiders immediately, Microsoft is committed to monitoring feedback before pushing it out to everyone. So brace yourself for an exceptional photo browsing experience with Windows 11’s new ‘Gallery’ view, a feature that’s sure to make its way to future stable releases
