If you happen to have an Apple Watch that has been facing battery drain issues, fear not, as Apple have released WatchOS 10.1.1 to fix exactly this problem. The company faced a lot of flak earlier this month from disgruntled users who took to social media platforms to showcase their Apple Watch battery drain stories. Thankfully, Apple took note of this and quickly addressed it with this new software update. We looked at the release notes of the new update and Apple has mentioned that the update addresses an issue “that could cause the battery to drain more quickly for some users“.
Apple has become a lot more proactive these days with their bug crushing software updates, which is good to see. There was a time where they had bug issues reported but they would wait for a big update to address everything at once. Thanks to social media however, users are able to flag these bugs as soon as they experience them, and this in turn, makes it easy for the company to take note and work on fixes on time.
As far as this particular issue is concerned, the sudden drop in battery percentage was a cause of concern for many users, some of whom even poster screenshots shows the battery usage on their Apple Watch. One that stood out to us was posted by an Apple Watch user on Reddit who reported that the battery percentage went from 100 to 50 percent in the span of an hour.
Now, along with the battery drain issue, the WatchOS 10.1.1 update also fixes unspecified bugs and glitches that have been reported by users or spotted by the developers. Something worth noting is that this update comes alongside the iOS 17.1.1 update which has been released for iPhones and iPads.
