Microsoft to share Nvidia AI power with select startups

Microsoft has just announced that they will be giving away access to powerful AI supercomputers powered by Nvidia, to a select free startups, for free. Thanks to the Microsoft for Startups Hub program, eligible startups will be able to access some seriously power AI computing, including some of the technology that was utilised in the creation of ChatGPT.

“For startups, this represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to bring groundbreaking impact to a market hungry for change.”, said Redmond’s President for Commerce and Ecosystems under its Cloud & AI division, Charlotte Yarkoni.

Microsoft has been offering a lot of their Azure services for free to upcoming startups who have enrolled in their program. So far, startups that work under Y Combinator have been given free access to Github and Microsoft Cloud, $2500 worth of OpenAI credits, and $150,000 worth of Azure credits. Along with these perks, Microsoft will also be working with its venture fund, M12, which allows it to expand the free services that it can offer.

The tech giant has said that the intention behind this gesture is to allow startups to get some leverage in terms of deployment, and help them innovate in AI technology via Microsoft’s technical know-how.

It is heartening to see Microsoft so forthcoming in their gestures, and for sure, this investment in startups will yield some sort of return in the long run.
