While the beta version of GTA Online is plagued by missing mechanics and numerous bugs, it offers a glimpse into features that never made it into the finished game. One such feature is a detailed “Wasted” screen, providing information about the weapon used to eliminate the player, the locations of fatal shots, and head-to-head statistics against the assailant. Additionally, the beta build contained periodic drops of “special crates,” although their precise contents remain unknown. The beta version also exhibited a different UI, with the ability to summon Edgar Carlos, Al Carter, or Lamar for “gang backups.”
Another notable difference between GTA Online and its previously concealed beta counterpart is character slots. The beta version allowed for five character slots, whereas the released version of the game limits players to just two. Some fans expressed disappointment over the absence of additional character creation slots, particularly considering the numerous extraneous features that have been introduced to GTA Online over the years.
