Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts are restored by Meta

Twitter has reinstated former President Donald Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts, as promised, two years after suspending him from both networks. The business previously stated that it will add more “guardrails” to his accounts in order to “deter repeat violations.”

Meta, like Twitter and other networks, barred Trump from using their platforms in January 2021 after he supported individuals involved in the Congressional Hill insurgency. The accounts were first closed for 24 hours due to two policy breaches before he was suspended indefinitely. The Oversight Board of Meta was among many who condemned the ban’s handling.

The business then stated that Trump’s accounts will be banned for two years before being reviewed. It was rumoured in late January that Trump will soon recover access to the sites, not long after he had urged Meta to reinstate his accounts.

Trump, who is running for President for the third time, has not posted anything on either platform as of 2:30 p.m. EST. He has an arrangement with his “free speech” app Truth Social under which he must first share social media posts there and cannot distribute them elsewhere for at least six hours. Trump’s account was reinstated on Twitter late last year, but he hasn’t returned to what was once his favourite social media network. Maybe he’s still upset about whatever Chrissy Teigen said about him.
