The biggest Blade systems available from Razer didn’t take long to arrive. According to the firm, the new Blade 16 and Blade 18 gaming laptops will be available tomorrow, February 8th. The 16- and 18-inch systems start at $2,700 and $2,900, respectively, however, the configurations coming this week are strictly high-end ones with RTX 4080 or 4090 graphics – to get anything soon, you’ll need to pay at least $3,600 ($3,800 for the 18-inch variant). The ‘entry’ variations will be available on February 22nd, using RTX 4060 or 4070 GPUs.
There are unique techniques for each portable. The Blade 16 has a one-of-a-kind dual-mode mini-LED display that can convert between a media-friendly 4K 120Hz image and a gaming-oriented FHD+ (1,920 x 1,200) 240Hz image. Meanwhile, the Blade 18 is a massive desktop replacement with a six-speaker spatial audio arrangement. Both feature Intel Core i9 HX processors from the 13th generation, and their RTX 40 series mobile graphics operate at full power – a maximum of 175W for the RTX 4080 and 4090. You won’t be able to perform much gaming on batteries, but it might save you from purchasing a tower Computer for demanding games.
Razer is now upgrading its Synapse software to allow CPU overclocking for the Blade 16 and Blade 18. You may change the core voltage, the maximum watts for boost power, and even how long the boost runs. Expect results similar to overclocking a desktop (you’re working within the constraints of a laptop chassis), but this may help you extract a few more frames per second out of your system.
