Thirsty Suitors presents players with a variety of activities, such as cooking with Jala’s parents, skating at the local park (while keeping an eye out for troublemaking punk kids), and engaging in stylistically over-the-top turn-based battles against her “thirsty ex-suitors.” These encounters force Jala to immerse herself in each lover’s perspective, delving into a world shaped by their subjective experiences. For instance, when battling Sergio, her overly confident and needy childhood boyfriend, Jala sees her surroundings through his eyes, where Sergio envisions himself as an invincible character in a psychic landscape of his own creation. However, players have the opportunity to bring about reconciliation and a deeper understanding by summoning Sergio’s mother, symbolically reducing his inflated self-perception to size.
