Third-Party Twitter Apps Experiencing Technical Issues

Several third-party Twitter clients are experiencing technical difficulties, preventing users from logging in. Tweetbot and Twitterific have both confirmed the issues and are working to find the root cause. Fenix, an Android app, has also confirmed that it is experiencing problems, but its iOS app seems to be unaffected. Matteo Villa, the developer of Fenix, has said that the Android app was suspended with no communication from Twitter.

Villa posted a screenshot showing a notification that Fenix violated Twitter Rules and policies and can no longer be accessed. The developer has temporarily pulled the app from Google Play while trying to determine the cause.

Twitter third-party app, Twitpane, has announced in Japanese that users have been experiencing errors, such as “account authentication failed,” that prevent them from accessing the app. Other clients that appear to be experiencing issues include Echofon, Feather, and Talon. Twitter has yet to release an official statement on the matter through its official accounts.

However, on the Twitter Developer forum, a user reported that they have been encountering many bugs with the Twitter API for third-party apps since December. The exact cause of the issue is currently unknown, and since Twitter no longer has a communications team, affected developers have not yet heard from the company directly.
