The Parler Android App is Making a Comeback on the Google Play Store

The right-wing social networking app Parler has returned to the Google Play Store after being removed after the tragic assault on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021. Google has blocked the app due to postings inciting violence, claiming that the app’s content monitoring was inadequate. It now claims that moderation has been enhanced and fulfills its standards.

Following the Capitol insurgency, digital firms quickly removed the Parler app from their platforms, citing evidence that it was used to call for violence and prepare the assault. The Parler website, which was hosted by Amazon Web Services, was also removed, thus knocking the social networking site offline. A month later, Parler got a new web host. In May of last year, the software was re-released on the Apple App Store.

The announcement of Parler’s return to Google Play comes only one day after US President Joe Biden delivered a speech in which he urged Americans to “reject political violence with all the moral clarity and passion our country can summon.”

Truth Social, another right-wing social media network, is also attempting to be restored on Google Play. Truth Social, which is owned by Trump Media & Technology Group, was denied clearance last month, with Google stating that the firm needs to improve its content control. According to Google, Truth Social is striving to resolve its concerns.

According to reports, Parler might return to the Google Play Store as soon as Friday.
