The 2024 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer will not be getting the V8 engine

Jeep just pulled a wild move with the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. You know that V-8 engine we all love? Well, it’s getting the boot, and now we’re left with Stellantis’s twin-turbo Hurricane straight-six as the main act.

So, Jeep’s rep spilled the beans, saying, “The Hurricane I-6 (420-hp version) is std across the Wagoneer lineup.” Translation: the V8 is out, and the straight-six is in. Check the 2024 Jeep configurator, and you won’t find the Hemi V-8 hanging out as an option anymore.

Now, let’s get into the specs – the Hurricane straight-six is dishing out 420 horses and 468 lb-ft of torque in the regular Wagoneer and the long-wheelbase Wagoneer L. And if you’re rolling with the Grand Wagoneer, that same engine is flexing with 510 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque.

Even though the V-8 is taking a nap, Jeep’s not messing around with the Wagoneer’s towing game. It’s still holding the crown with a best-in-class tow rating of 10,000 pounds for 2024, making it the SUV tow king. And don’t worry, the Grand Wagoneer is still flexing its muscles, even if they didn’t spill the updated towing capacity.

Now, for some style points – out with the Grand Wagoneer II trim and in with the Grand Wagoneer Obsidian. Picture this: sleek black trim outside and a set of killer 22-inch polished wheels with black inserts. Jeep’s keeping it stylish.

If you are a fan of Jeep and V8 powered cars, then you will have take the Wagoneer series off your list. The bad news is that the existing stock of V8 powered Wagoneers will be the last V8 powered cars from Jeep. If you are in the market for a V8 Jeep, you should go in and buy a Wagoneer right away.
