TCL Unveils Innovative Smartphones with Eye-Friendly Paper-Like Displays

As the curtain rises on IFA 2023, TCL has already taken the tech world by storm with the introduction of two Android smartphones that boast remarkable paper-like displays. Building on technology previously seen in their tablets, TCL brings this eye-friendly innovation to the palm of your hand.

Meet the TCL 40 Nxtpaper and TCL 40 Nxtpaper 5G, both proudly featuring ‘Nxtpaper’ displays previously showcased in the popular mid-range tablet, the TCL Nxtpaper 10s.

These displays are designed with your eyes in mind, featuring a myriad of eye-care technologies. Not only are they certified as low blue light by the industry-standard TUV, but they also sport a pleasing matte finish, reminiscent of paper. This anti-glare feature ensures comfortable viewing even in bright light conditions, making for an exceptional visual experience. The display even mimics the texture and feel of paper when touched. Added to this, the screen is remarkably resistant to fingerprint smudges, ensuring your view remains crystal clear.

Despite the paper-like texture and low blue light tech, TCL emphasizes that the display retains natural color tonality, ensuring your content looks vibrant and true to life.

Now, let’s delve into the specifications. While you might expect these models to be identical, save for 5G support, the 5G model packs some notable differences.

The TCL 40 Nxtpaper boasts a spacious 6.78-inch FHD+ display, powered by a MediaTek Helio G88 SoC. Complementing this is a generous 8GB of RAM and a capacious 256GB of storage.

On the other hand, the TCL 40 Nxtpaper 5G offers a slightly more compact 6.6-inch HD+ display, driven by a MediaTek Dimensity 6020 processor. This variant features 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Turning our attention to the camera setup, the base model boasts a 50MP primary camera on the rear and an impressive 32MP front camera for stunning selfies. Meanwhile, the 5G model differentiates itself with a 50MP rear camera array and an 8MP front camera.

Both smartphones share a robust 5,000 mAh battery, ensuring extended usage on a single charge. Of course, the 5G version offers support for this advanced cellular standard, while the base model caters to 4G connectivity.

TCL has initially targeted the European market for these releases, with availability confirmed in this region. However, it’s highly likely that these innovative smartphones will make their debut elsewhere soon.

As reported by Phone Arena, the 5G variant commands a 25% premium over its counterpart. The TCL 40 Nxtpaper is priced at €200 (approximately $220 / £170 / AU$390), while the TCL 40 Nxtpaper 5G is available for €250 (around $275 / £215 / AU$490).

In a world where innovation meets eye comfort, TCL’s Nxtpaper smartphones promise to offer a unique and user-friendly experience for tech enthusiasts worldwide.
