Superhero MMO DC Universe Online Set to Expand to PS5 and Xbox Series X Later This Year

DC Universe Online, the superhero-themed MMO, is set to make its way to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, bringing the game to current-generation consoles. The game allows players to create their own unique characters and join forces or battle against popular DC characters in an ongoing struggle for the fate of the universe.

Originally launched on the PlayStation 3 in 2011, DC Universe Online later expanded to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The game’s 46th Episode, titled “Justice League Dark Cursed,” is scheduled to release in October. Additionally, the full game will be available on the PS5 and Xbox Series X during the Holiday 2023 season, likely sometime in November or December.

Senior Community Manager Ted Stone confirmed in a recent development update that the move to current-gen consoles will bring performance gains, gameplay enhancements, and quality of life improvements. These changes will be gradually introduced leading up to the release on the new consoles, with further improvements rolling out over the course of the following year.

Notably, players will be able to migrate their in-game purchases and achievements seamlessly if they switch to the new consoles while using the same account. Server continuity will also be maintained, ensuring that players can continue playing with their friends without interruption.
