Insomniac Games’ upcoming sequel, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, will introduce various combat accessibility features to make the game more inclusive for players. These details have been revealed on the official PlayStation website.
One standout feature is the ability to slow down combat action during fights to 70%, 50%, or 30% of normal speed. Players can toggle between these speeds to strategize and plan attacks more effectively, giving a different perspective on enemy encounters. This is a new addition not found in the previous games of the series.
Another accessibility feature is the option to enable a screenreader that reads on-screen text aloud, including menus and captions. The game will also provide on-screen captions and audio descriptions for cinematic scenes, enhancing the experience for players who may have visual or auditory impairments.
This approach to accessibility follows the precedent set by previous games in the series, Spider-Man Remastered and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which also offered comprehensive accessibility options.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is scheduled for release on October 20 for the PlayStation 5. Notably, the game will exclusively release for the PS5, skipping last-gen consoles. While a PC release is not confirmed, it remains a possibility in the future. The game features both Peter Parker and Miles Morales as playable characters, expands the New York setting, and introduces the iconic comic book villain Venom, along with other notable characters from the Spider-Man universe.
