Starting in December, the Hulu + Live TV package will cost at least $5 extra

Hulu upped its membership fees for its ad-supported tier from $7 to $8 per month in October, as have many other streaming providers over the last year. The Disney-owned streaming service is now upping the price of its Hulu + Live TV package as well. The Hulu + Live TV (with commercials), Disney+ (no advertisements), and ESPN+ (with ads) bundles will cost $75 per month on their first billing cycle after December 8th. That is a $5 increase above the current monthly price of $70.

However, the legacy plan to which they are subscribing will no longer be accessible after December 8th, therefore they will be unable to switch back. According to Apple Insider, consumers who subscribe to a package that includes Hulu with no advertisements would have to pay $83 per month beginning December 8th, up from $76 now.

Given that Disney confirmed in August that Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ will all be upping their costs, it’s not surprising that the Live TV package would as well. Disney stated at the time that operational losses from its streaming services were approximately $1.1 billion. It also said that the third quarter of the year saw a 14.4 million increase in Disney+ members, indicating that the firm is definitely aiming to recoup some of its losses by charging its viewers more.
