“Star Trek: Resurgence” set to release on multiple platforms on May 23rd

Developer Dramatic Labs has finally set a release date for its highly anticipated narrative adventure game, Star Trek: Resurgence. Originally slated for release in spring of 2022, the game will now launch on May 23, 2023, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC via the Epic Games Store.

Dramatic Labs, which is composed of former Telltale developers, promises a title that prioritizes making tough decisions over whiz-bang action. Star Trek: Resurgence is set shortly after the events of Star Trek: The Next Generation and features two playable lead characters, along with legacy characters from throughout the Star Trek universe. Spock, as seen in The Next Generation timeline, will play a significant role in the game’s story.

The game’s storyline involves stopping a war between two alien races, which is something the Vulcan ambassador would most certainly get behind. Using the Unreal 5 engine, Star Trek: Resurgence should eliminate the jankiness surrounding old-school Telltale games. With its talented team and engaging story, fans of the Star Trek franchise should be cautiously optimistic that Resurgence lives up to classic early 2000s titles like Star Trek: Bridge Commander.
