The long-anticipated Spotify HiFi tier, originally announced in February 2021, is about to undergo a significant transformation. This new version, known as “Supremium,” is poised to bring a plethora of advanced features to music enthusiasts, but it comes at a premium cost.
Chris Messina, a technologist and well-known tipster, recently revealed key details about Supremium on Threads. Unlike its previous incarnation, Supremium is not solely focused on high-resolution audio streaming. In addition to 24-bit lossless audio, subscribers will gain access to advanced mixing tools, comprehensive statistics regarding their listening history, and even free audiobooks. All these perks will come at a monthly cost of $19.99, nearly twice the price of the standard Spotify Premium subscription at $10.99 per month in the US.
The additional features in Supremium represent Spotify’s attempt to offer more than just audio quality. The advanced statistics feature, for instance, is reminiscent of Last.fm, providing users with year-round insights similar to Spotify Wrapped.
AI plays a significant role in enhancing the overall experience, offering smarter recommendations and deeper insights. However, the question remains whether users will be willing to invest in these added features.
The Supremium logo, as revealed by Messina, features the word “Supremium” in the familiar Spotify font and is adorned with the Spotify logo. Given the increasing frequency of leaks, an official launch for Supremium appears imminent. Nevertheless, no specific release date has surfaced in the rumor mill so far.
