Splatoon 3 Will Not Have a Halloween Big Run

Despite rumors and fan excitement, it has been confirmed that Splatoon 3 will not have a Big Run event for Halloween this year. This comes after it was revealed that Splatoon 3 will not be commemorating Halloween with a Splatfest, as previous editions of the game did.

Many online games now commemorate Halloween, which is a popular holiday among both children and adults. Halloween Splatfests in Splatoon 2 not only honored the occasion but also featured unique Halloween cosmetics for Splatoon 2 players to wear during and after the event.

A Splatoon 3 update was just issued, which is how data miners found that Big Run would not be launched on Halloween. Unfortunately, dataminer OatmealDome reports that the data required to host the Big Run event is still missing from the game’s files. While certain assets have been uploaded to the game, such as a skybox file that makes the sky seem ominous and crimson, OatmealDome claims that stage data and Deep Cut news commentary about the event have yet to appear in the game’s files. Big Run isn’t feasible without this data, and because it’s exceedingly improbable that Nintendo would provide an unexpected update in the next few days, Big Run isn’t occurring for Halloween.

Fans are surprised and perplexed since they had become used to witnessing Splatfests at least once a month in Splatoon 2 throughout its sponsored years. A November Splatfest for Splatoon 3 has already been confirmed, and it will arrive in the second week of the month, which may be too close to Halloween for the creators to want to run both. The delay is probably partly due to the desire to concentrate attention on the November Pokemon Splatfest, which takes place shortly before the game’s release.

It is unknown when the first Big Run event will take place, but with files steadily being added to the game, it may take place before the end of the year. Splatoon 3 was just released, and the creators may want to give players more time to get used to the game before introducing a new event. Thankfully, there are plenty of other games with frightening Halloween events, but Splatoon 3’s Inklings and Octolings will have to wait until 2023 to see whether the designers throw a Halloween celebration.
