Exact release dates and regional availability may vary, but for gamers in the US, UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Portugal, pre-orders for the PS5 console covers and controllers will open at 10 am local time on October 4. The red and blue variants are set to ship starting November 3, while the silver versions are expected to hit the market on January 26, 2024.
In addition to this exciting announcement, Sony has also rolled out PS5 system update 23.02-08.00.00, which has been in beta testing since early August. This substantial update brings several key features to the console, including support for M.2 SSDs up to a whopping 8TB in size. It also allows users to silence the console’s startup beep, enhancing the overall gaming experience. Notably, Dolby Atmos support is introduced for the first time, giving PS5 players access to immersive audio similar to what Xbox Series X|S users have enjoyed since 2020.
