Skyrim Player Attempts to Survive for 101 Days on Legendary Difficulty with Survival Mode

A YouTuber has taken on the cruel challenge of attempting to live in Skyrim for more than 100 days while playing not just in Survival Mode, but also on the toughest level with some additional parameters thrown in. It’s not uncommon for gamers to test themselves in seemingly difficult ways, such as the GTA 5 fan who tried a pacifist run and spent three years playing, yet nevertheless killed roughly 100 people. This is what drives the popularity of gaming.

In terms of popularity, despite the fact that the game was launched more than a decade ago, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is still significant in the community. Beginning on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the epic RPG has stayed in the AAA gaming arena, not only because of a committed fan following but also because Bethesda continues to re-release updated versions of the game on newer platforms as they become available. After so many years, it’s natural to believe there’s nothing else to uncover in Skyrim, but there are those gamers that prove that concept false.

The Spiffing Brit, a YouTuber, is one such individual. In their most recent video, they chose to attempt to last 101 days in Skyrim. On the surface, it seems to be a simple task, but the difficulty is to finish it in Survival Mode and on Legendary Difficulty. To truly boost the ante, certain tweaks were utilized to not only give the game an aesthetic makeover but also to make the battle that much more difficult by enabling foes to dodge-roll and use healing potions more often. The player also placed restrictions, such as the inability to use enchanted weapons or armour.

The fact that this is Spiffing Brit’s second effort shows how tough this challenge is. For those who are unaware, Skyrim’s Survival Mode makes the game significantly more difficult. It pushes the player to eat, sleep, and drink, among other things, while also allowing them to succumb to the cold. It also makes quick travel and health regeneration impossible. Given that Spiffing Brit adds even more variables to this job, it’s hardly surprise that it’s such a tough task.

Skyrim is already 11 years old, demonstrating how long the game has been in the spotlight. While many are looking forward to the next part in the series, folks like The Spiffing Brit illustrate that there are still plenty of things to do in Tamriel.
