Samsung’s new Galaxy S24 phones are here, and they’ve got some sweet new AI tricks thanks to a tag team effort with Google. These phones are packing Google’s latest Gemini models – think AI helpers on steroids that can summarize stuff, spice up your texts, and even visually search whatever’s on your screen.
For starters, you can get cliff note versions of long lectures or meetings with the new summarization feature in apps like Samsung Notes. It uses Gemini Pro to scan through recordings and pull out the main points so you don’t have to. Messages has a new “Magic Compose” tool powered by Gemini Nano that makes your texts sound excited, formal, whatever you want with just a tap. And the new Photomoji takes a pic of something and turns it into a custom emoji to react with. Fun stuff.
But one of the coolest additions has to be the new Circle to Search. You literally draw a circle around anything on screen – youtube videos, Instagram stories, web articles – and it will instantly search and pull up info on whatever you highlighted. No more switching between apps or taking screenshots to look something up. It just knows.
And that’s not all. Google’s crazy Imagen 2 tech is bringing its image generating magic to the S24’s photo editing tools too. We’re talking filling in missing background details with surprisingly realistic fakes. First debuted on Pixel 8, now Samsung’s getting a taste.
It’s pretty clear Samsung is hoping these smart partnerships with Google will set its new phones apart, bringing that AI? firepower to your fingertips. The S24 seems packed with helpful, creative ways to upgrade your mobile game. We’ll see if it’s enough to tempt people away from Apple land.
